Frequently Asked Questions...

1

How does 856Express work?

856Express works in a three-step process:

  1. 856Express accepts Purchase Order data from your your host Accounting/Order Processing system or existing EDI translator.

  2. Use 856Express packing stations or wireless scanners to fill, label, and ship your Customers' orders.

  3. 856Express data tables provide detailed information for use by your Accounting/Order Processing system or EDI translator.

Your translator then maps the data and sends it to your trading partner.

Does 856Express support my kind of order filling?

Yes. 856Express supports "pick/pack," standard case, assortment, pallet, and several other order filling modes.

3

How does the system know which order I am working on?

The 856Express System assigns a number to identify each Purchase Order and prints barcoded labels for your pick tickets. When you scan this Pick Ticket ID bar code, 856Express knows which order is being packed, what items and quantities are required and what customer ship label format to use.

4

What about my products that don't have UPCs?

Any item number for which a UPC or other barcode does not exist can be keyed into 856Express The system will scan and recognize most common bar code labels and will capture product IDs scanned from hang tags, pre-priced labels, or your unique product markings. For unmarked items, 856Express can generate bar code labels for your storage bins using your internal item numbers.

5

Does the 856Express System verify that I am correctly shipping the ordered items?

Yes. When order filling, 856Express automatically verifies that the correct items are packed in the right quantity. If an operator attempts to pack an item that is not in the order, or overfills an item, the system will issue a warning showing the packer the overfill or mispick.

6

Can more than one person do order filling, labeling or shipping at a time?

Absolutely. Order filling, labeling, and shipping functions can be done simultaneously by as many workers as your workload requires.

7

Will the 856Express scanners and printers stand up to the physical demands of our warehouse?

856Express scanners are rugged units built to operate in the most demanding warehouse environment. The recharging system and spare batteries supplied with 856Express allow for almost continuous use of the system's scanners. The Bar code Label Printers supplied with the system are workhorses, capable of producing thousands of labels per day.

I'm a small company with only a few customers. Do I really need a whole system?

Yes. The issue isn't how many customers you have, it is your ability to fill, label, and ship their orders in an accurate and timely manner. This requires a system that can keep your warehouse staff from making mistakes, generate correctly formatted shipping labels, and assure proper shipment. You need a system that can also provide you with the information needed to update your inventory and invoicing systems, eliminating the need for expensive and error prone re-keying of information.
